iCade Arcade Cabinet for iPad

Remember the iCade, the iPad arcade cabinet which was “launched” as an April Fools joke by the folks at ThinkGeek? Well, given the popularity of the cabinet, ThinkGeek decided to turn the concept into an actual product, and after several months of work, the company is about to release the real deal.

ThinkGeek actually partnered with both manufacturer ION and game developer Atari to bring the iCade to retro gaming fans. Atari, the old school arcade games company, is currently porting a large amount of its classic arcade titles to the device, and the first game to be launched will be the legendary Asteroids.

Non-Atari games should also be available soon, as the iCade offers a programming interface to allow third party developers to build their own iCade-compatible games.
