Barclays Center the Home of the Brooklyn Nets

Scheduled to open on September 28, 2012, Barclays Center will be a major sports and entertainment venue in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. Barclays Center will be the first new major sports and entertainment indoor arena in New York City since 1968 and the Brooklyn Nets will be the first major sports team in the borough since the Dodgers left for Los Angeles in 1957. Barclays Center is a 675,000-square-foot venue located at Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues, the crossroads of Brooklyn.
Barclays Center will host about 220 events and offer extensive volume and variety. The five programming franchises are: Brooklyn Nets, Brooklyn Show, Brooklyn Boxing, Brooklyn Family, and Brooklyn Hoops. JAY Z will open the building with a concert on September 28 and perform 8 nights total. The Brooklyn Nets will play their first regular season game in Barclays Center on November 1 against the New York Knicks.

Other events scheduled for this fall, in addition to JAY Z, include Barbra Streisand, Andrea Bocelli, Bob Dylan and His Band with Special Guest Mark Knopfler, Justin Bieber, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Who, major college basketball, including NCAA Champion Kentucky vs. Maryland, along with monthly major professional boxing, Kellogg’s USA Gymnastics Tour with the 2012 U.S. Women’s Olympic gymnastics gold medal team, Disney on Ice, and other family events.
