Two years ago, Chinese sneaker brand Li-Ning went on a “contractual blitz”, signing lucrative endorsement deals with both NBA players Baron Davis, Evan Turner, along with organizations like the Argentina National Basketball Team. Confirmed by Chinese blogs and leaks, Dwyane Wade officially joined Li-Ning’s roster of players today. Currently in China for the announcement, Wade stated “In the end, the pros outweighed the cons.” The Miami Heat guard continued, “Jordan might have that cool factor, but I’m at a different point in my career. I want to be involved in building something.” But Wade knows the challenge ahead for Li-Ning, especially when it comes to the US market, since “people don’t like to change the brands they know.”
