PUMA Re-Introduces The Disc For Runners

This year, as PUMA celebrates the 25th year of the DISC, it took the original DISC design and made it lighter and sleeker. It is quicker to turn, faster to tighten and features smooth, durable steel wires to conform to the foot.

The evoSPEED DISC Spike is fit for the world’s fastest athletes on the track. Like the flat version, it offers a secure and fast fit with PUMA’s updated proprietary innovative fast closing system. It wraps and secures the foot onto the platform within a split-second. For ultimate traction and propulsion, it features an aggressive full length Pebax Sprint Plate with 8 spike receptacles. Top-of-the-line, soft, aerodynamic Clarino® synthetic upper hugs the foot and locks the foot onto the plate for superb upper support.

adidas Celebrates Jesse Owens with Black History Month Collection

Inspired by the triumph of an American sports and cultural hero, adidas celebrates Jesse Owens with its Black History Month footwear collection.

The facts are simple, Jesse Owens was the most famous track and field athlete of all time, and in 1950 when the Associated Press conducted a poll to determine the greatest track and field athlete of the first half of the 20th-century, the results didn’t even come close - Owens by a landslide.

“The Owens family is pleased to partner with adidas for Black History Month with a commemorative basketball shoe. On the feet of athletes who compete in the spirit of Jesse’s historic accomplishments, these shoes encompass the significance of one of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen.”

James Harden, Damian Lillard and Derrick Rose, among others, will debut the exclusive collection during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day games and continue to wear the commemorative editions in select games throughout February to celebrate Black History Month and honor African-American role models like Jesse.

Each model features cream tones, dark brown contrasts, gold accents and signature details including Owen’s 733 bib number treated with gold foil on the tongue and a 1936 graphic-print in the sockliner.

Q&A with Nyack High School’s Track & Field Athlete Ariana “Weezus” Marsland

Ariana Marsland while only in the 7th grade competed at the High School level. Everyone she competed with was several years older than her but she stood her ground and made an impact to her team while earning a spot as lead off leg on the varsity 4x100 relay. By being the youngest on the team Ariana had to work harder and be more confident while on the track. She is already running a solid 100m in a consistent 13.2s and knows that she will only get faster over time.

Q: How old are you and what school do you attend?
A: I am 12 years old about to be 13 in October and I attend Nyack Middle School but run for Nyack High School varsity team.

Q: How did you get the nickname “Weezus”?
A: Well I have asthma and after a long day of training I wheeze a little before I take my pump. So my teammates started calling me Weezus.

Q: When did you first start running track and field?
A: I started running track when I was about 5 or 6 years old. My parents would take my brother and I to compete at track meets in the New York area. My parents helped start up a track club which I was a member of and this gave me the foundation to run, teaching me the correct running techniques, form and to compete against some top runners. So when I signed up for the High School team I had the base already and the coaching staff took me under their wing and gave me tough workouts to make me a stronger athlete. Though I still have another year left before I even enter High School I will only get better and learn from my peers.

Puma Fall-Winter 2013 Preview

One of the most exciting sneaker lines I got to check out in NYC was the Puma Fall-Winter 2013/2014 collection.  The collection was on trend with bright array of colors in bold patterns and combinations.  It was great to see bold colors for Fall when most of the time we see muted color palettes.  Great collaborations between Alexander McQueen x Puma and Miharayasohiro x Puma making there mark in the sneaker world.

You can get all of this Puma hotness and more for your feet come this fall.

adidas My Formula | this is Yohan Blake's formula

Everyone has a secret place where they go. Where they push themselves, harder than before. It's where the brave find their strength, and the quick discover their wings. "Mine is a steep climb in Jamaica where I eat hills for breakfast. When I ascend through the clouds, the rewards are high. Where is it, no one knows, and they never will."

This is Yohan Blake's formula. What's yours?
